Regional Mobility |
Demand Studies |
We rely on traditional sources of information such as: basic residence and employment info, Census data, home surveys, road counts, transit demand... In parallel we conduct special surveys such as parking patterns, revealed and stated preferences, employment center surveys... |
|
||
| Even though a basic 4-step demand model of the region is updated and maintained on a continuous basis, every new job may require a special emphasis on a given type of trip purpose, a given mode, a given area or a set of future scenarios. | |||
The modeling is calibrated and validated for past scenarios, before describing future scenarios. The scenarios are always holistic in nature, by considering a range of plausible factors affecting the overall transportation system: transit, parking, land use, social changes... |

Policy Council |
We have provided policy council to the Basque Government, the Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa Provincial Governments and several other public institutions (i.e. Basque Rail) on transport policy. This advice is provided under an international perspective in order to incorporate not only European trends, but other experiences (ISTEA, TEA-21...) |

This international perspective is balanced by a direct knowledge on local conditions. | |

Intelligent Transport Systems |
We are conducting a so called Access Bilbao 2010 Forum in order to lay the base of collaboration among the public and private transport actors in Metropolitan Bilbao. This Forum has led to an active role in ERTICO's ITS City Pioneers Project together with another seven European metropolitan regions. We have represented Bilbao on both the Stockholm ITS Meeting in Sept 98 and the Amsterdam European Conference on ITS. In fact, Bilbao will be hosting the 2nd European Conference in June 2001 |
